While we like any excuse for a party, Barack Obama's inauguration is a pretty legit one. Lucky for us, there are a bazillion parties next Tuesday. Here are a few for you to pick and choose from, and feel free to leave more ideas in the comments.
- Carnivale will be showing all the hoopla in their lounge and will have a specialy margarita,"La Margarita Del Presidente" for ten dollars. Coconut, Pomegranate and Blue Curacao = red white and blue. Yay, America!
- Head to Martyrs to test your brain. GOAt and Young Professionals’ will be hosting a quiz party. Get a team of four (or go by yourself and be placed on a team) and be prepared to answer all the who, what, where, and when of 2008 for a chance to win bragging rights and prizes.
- Sushi Samba Rio will also be having a celebration, complete with red, white, and blue drink specials (we see a drink specials theme here), appetizer specials, and a live DC broadcast.
- Kit Kat Lounge will also be broadcasting the inaug coverage with champagne, tarot card readings, drinks specials and a performance by the Kit Kat Divas.
- For the Fancy Pants: The Chicago Inaugural Ball will be held at McCormick place. Your tux and 175 bones will get you admittance, champagne, live music, hors d’oeuvres and obvi, broadcasts of everything going on in Washington. Everything.
- Both Opera and LeLan are offering three course prix fixe menus if you're in a low-key-just-wanna-dine mood.
- For something a little different, The Silver Room will be broadcasting the festivities from 10am -7pm and serving snacks and beverages. At 7pm, participate in an Obama-centric discussion about our future, followed by DJs and dance parties. Local artists paint political works on site. Bring a t-shirt to have an inauguration design printed on it, for a small price.
- Don't wanna leave your casa? Bushbash 09 is encouraging people to having their own party, take lots a pics, post them on Flickr, and BushBash 09 will create an online commemorative photo album of the occasion.
