UIC fended off the Detroit Titans on Thursday, 65-61. Down two and playing for the final possession, the Titans turned it over to Robo Kreps as UIC secured the victory. Kreps also led the scoring with 21 and sank four of the Flames five three pointers. The victory kicked off a four game road stint for the Flames, who next play at home on Feb. 5.
Loyola was stymied by the Wright State Raiders, losing on the road 68-47. Points came at a premium for the Ramblers, who scored a mere 17 in the second half and made fewer than 30 percent of their field goal attempts. J.R. Blount was the Ramblers’ leading scorer with 10 points. Loyola hopes to rediscover its stroke against the Detroit Raiders on Saturday, who stand at 0-8 in Horizon league play.
