Bulls Blast Clippers
The Bulls earned a brief sigh of relief Wednesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 95-75. Chicago clung to a one-possession lead at the half, but came out firing in the third quarter with an 11-2 run. That run grew to 26-9 by the end of the period, as the they tallied a +10 rebounding advantage over the same stretch. The Clippers only managed to match baskets in the fourth, as the Bulls cruised to victory. The win was Chicago’s first in six games, who hope to start a streak of a different kind when they square off against the Kings Friday night in Sacramento.

‘Hawks Edge Anaheim
With Mickey and pals taking a skate on their home ice, the Blackhawks kicked off an eight-game road trip with a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The ‘Hawks were happy to have Duncan Keith back in the lineup, who fed the would-be game winner to Jonathan Toews early in the second period. Toews’ score put Chicago up 3-1, building upon a rebound goal from Adam Burish and a power-play wrap around from Patrick Kane in the first period of play. The Ducks would get one back late in the second, but strong defense and solid play from goalie Nikolai Khabibulin would preserve the Chicago victory.

College Basketball
DePaul was no match for the no. 2 Connecticut Huskies, scoring only 14 second-half points in the 71-49 loss.

Northwestern iced the Indiana Hoosiers 77-75, as Craig Moore sank a pair of free-throws to claim the final lead with six seconds to play.

Loyola was defeated by Wisconsin-Milwaukee 72-58, making it their second loss to the Panthers this season.

UIC fell to the Phoenix 82-71, as Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Troy Cotton sank seven threes and scored a game-high 25 points.

NIU was bounced by the Miami of Ohio Redhawks 82-57, with the Huskies converting only 17 of 55 attempts from the field.
