Saturday Morning Flashback: More Chicago-Centric Cartoonery
By Karl Klockars in Miscellaneous on Jan 31, 2009 5:30PM
As we're tooling around the internets this morning wondering exactly when we got too cool for Saturday morning cartoons it popped into our heads to check out what cartoonery is hosted with our friends at FuzzyMemories.TV. Fingers were crossed for CBS local broadcasts of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or possibly that old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon that was beautifully geeky. We couldn't track down any of that, but observe the majesty of WFLD's Saturday Morning Movie in 1980, before the upstart station could probably even afford cartoons:
Other related clips on the site which we can't embed but are totally worth checking out:
- A CBS promo reel for the 1980 cartoon lineup
- Dick Clark and ABC promoting their Saturdays
- A short bumper for the Bugs Bunny And Road Runner show which totally reminds us of waiting for those shows with animated short stories like How To Eat Fried Worms.
If you'll excuse us now, we'll be enjoying the rest of the morning with some of these videos and a big bowl of Nintendo Cereal.
