Not only is every single resident in the 5th Congressional District running for Rahm Emanuel's vacated seat, some candidates are getting in front of voters sooner, rather than later. Democrat Charles Wheelan was up on the air early with a commercial that ran locally several hours before the Super Bowl.
Whether the Race for Rahm's Seat will be decided by money or voter engagement remains to be seen, but at least two of the three candidates considered front runners have begun to amass their war chests. State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz announced that she would report raising nearly $325,000 this quarter, and County Commissioner Mike Quigley said he raised $138,000. State Rep. John Fritchey said that he won't be filing this quarter, as he's just begun to raise money. Wheelan, by the way, has raised just over $100,000.
