Muggings At Logan Square CTA Worries Residents

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Feb 4, 2009 10:45PM

2009_02_04_logan square.jpg A series of recent muggings at the CTA's Logan Square station has raised concern among residents and has police on the defensive. There were seven different incidents reported in a recent two-week period and now residents want to know what police are going to do about it.

Several voiced their concerns at a recent community meeting. Resident Mark Heller said, "This is kind of big stuff for a transit hub and a community. This is a lot of crime." Many residents wanted to know why the police didn't alert the community of the muggings. Chicago Police Officer Sonia Moriarty says that one man has been arrested in connection with the muggings though they believe several more are involved. Moriarty added there are undercover officers patrolling the area now and that members of the community have been alerted to the muggings.
