Blackhawks Douse Flames
The Blackhawks won their third straight and fourth of their last five games as they topped Calgary 5-2. After a back-and-forth first period that saw the teams exchange goals to a 2-2 tie, the 'Hawks scored three unanswered to pull away. Five different 'Hawks scored, but it was a big night for Andrew Ladd (1 goal, 2 assists) and Matt Walker (3 assists). Khabibulin was solid in net, stopping 29 of 31 shots, including nine on power plays. The 'Hawks are at 4-1 on this eight game road trip and sit solidly in second place in the division and third overall in the conference.

College Basketball
A horrid shooting night for Illinois (32.8 pct from the field, 19 pct on threes) cost the Illini as they fell to Wisconsin 63-50. Mike Davis led Illinois with 14 points.

Ohio was too much for NIU, who were trounced by the Bobcats 89-59. Darion Anderson had 17 off the bench for NIU but it wasn't nearly enough.

The UIC Flames gave away the game to Cleveland State, 66-63. Up 63-59 with less than a minute to play, Clev. State got two clutch shots from Jeremy Montgomery as they outscored UIC 7-0 in the final 46 seconds for the win.

Despite a halftime lead, Loyola couldn't finish off Youngstown St., who won 60-49. JR Blount was Loyola's leading scorer with 12 points in the losing effort.
