OK GO To Tour; Totally Skip Chicago (But Their Hearts Are In The Right Place)

2009_02_ok_go.jpg OK Go is hitting the road to preview songs from their new album, due this summer. Sadly they are only visiting the coasts and have obviously forgotten the city that gave them their start, allowed them to plaster their posters on ever available surface in Wicker Park, and attended their sweatbox Empty Bottle shows during the band's (relative) adolescence. Hmpf!

The band has been recording their latest with Dave Fridmann -- most famous for his work with the Flaming Lips on almost every album they've done since 1990 -- so while we're hurt they're passing us up, we are excited to hear what levels of sonic strangeness that pairing will ultimately unleash onto the airwaves.

Tour dates that DO NOT include Chicago appear after the jump. Double hmpf!

O.K., you know what? We just can't stay mad at the guys, especially since we also just learned that the proceeds from their You Are Not Alone EP is actually beginning to help displaced New Orleans musicians to rebuild and move back into their homes. The latest beneficiary of funds from the project is Al "Carnival Time" Johnson.

We take back all our "hmpfs!"
