StoryStudio Offers Up Annual Retreat

2009_02_storystudio.jpg Break out your college-lined notebook and your frilly pink pen, StoryStudio Chicago is hosting its fourth annual In-Town Writers Retreat. StoryStudio bills itself as a “growing community of writers building Chicago’s premier center for writing and related arts.” This translates to classes on everything from blogging to screenplays, to the ambiguously titled “LifeWriting” course and the less ambiguously titled session, “Writing Sex.”

The upcoming In-Town Writers Retreat, held on March 27-29, is the writer’s equivalent of a “staycation.” Three days of workshops include the chance to start that novel you’ve been dithering on about or polish your creative non-fiction novella about the life and times of James Frey. Also, there’s free food. Full course schedule can be found here.

If three days immersed amongst aspiring writers sounds like a jump in the deep end of the pool (or the $195 nonmember fee puts you off), StoryStudio also hosts regular Open House nights to talk about how to reach your writing goals and stuff your face with free coffee, tea, and cookies.

In-Town Writers Retreat, 4043 N Ravenswood, #222, March 27 to Sunday, Student (non-member): $195 / Member: $180
