You can purchase truffled popcorn at your nearest swanky lounge for around $12 per serving, where a serving equals one measly handful. Or you can make an entire bowl, prepared to your liking, to enjoy all to yourself while catching up on those Oscar movies you’ve been meaning to see. (Side note: play the Changeling drinking game: take a sip every time Jolie says, “my son.” you might be drunk by the end of act one.) It was recently brought to our attention that many people haven't any idea on how to make this delicious, simple snack. Once you start, you may never have a movie night at home without it.

Ingredients

3/4 cup white popcorn
2 tbs vegetable oil
2 tbs peanut oil
black or white truffle oil (either a drizzle or a tablespoon depending on your liking)
2 tbs unsalted butter
salt
truffles (if you just happen to have them laying around)

Directions

The best thing about making truffled popcorn at home is that you can adjust the amounts of the ingredients to your liking. We start with heating up a large, heavy pot on medium-high and adding equal parts vegetable oil and peanut oil until the bottom of the pan is covered. Add whatever amount of popcorn you desire, we add enough so the bottom of the pan is generously covered with kernels (about 3/4 cup), as it usually makes a large bowl. Cover and cook over medium heat until the popcorn starts popping. Shake the pan continuously, until the popping has almost stopped. Pour into large bowl.

In a small sauce pan (or microwave) melt butter and add a drizzle of truffle oil. (Or more, if you love it.) Add the buttery truffle-y mix to the popcorn, toss well, and add salt. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on some real truffles, shave those on top.

Done. You just made 90 dollars worth of fancy bar truffled popcorn.
