CTA Expands Bus Tracker Tomorrow
By Tim State in News on Mar 1, 2009 10:55PM
The CTA bus tracking system will be expanded tomorrow, and with this enhancement will come a new service alerting riders to service disruptions at specific stops, or along routes. The alerts will work with Internet-enabled phones or desktop technology for people plugged into the net.
Users will be able to set up preferences to monitor one route or stop, or multiple routes and stops. Messages will appear at the top of estimated arrival times, and customers will be able to click a hyper-link to access more detailed information.
24 new routes will be added tomorrow, bringing a total of 110 bus routes of the CTA’s 154 to the system. The balance of the routes will be added before year’s end. Look for these routes tomorrow morning:
1 Indiana/Hyde Park, 8A South Halsted, 14 Jeffery Express, 15 Jeffery Local, 24 Wentworth, 28 Stony Island, X28 Stony Island Express, 29 State, 34 South Michigan, 49A South Western, 53 Pulaski, 54 Cicero, X54 Cicero Express, 57 Laramie, 65 Grand, 66 Chicago, 70 Division, 71 71st/South Shore, 72 North, 73 Armitage, 74 Fullerton, 76 Diversey, 111 Pullman/111th/115th and 119 Michigan/119th.
