Bling It On

Even though our economy is falling apart, we can still celebrate the beauty and majesty of baubles and riches. That's what Loyola University Chicago's Department of Fine and Performing Arts plans to do with its upcoming student juried competition, BLING. In the spirit of Depression Era bonhomie, LUC is inviting students from all Chicago universities, colleges and art schools to submit works in any medium for display in the Crown Center Gallery. A panel of Chicago art personalities will judge the works, and winners will receive prizes. (To be honest, this theme seems 2005, but if they're handing out prizes to poor students we won't complain.)
Details for entry are on the website. For you graduated non-artists, the opening reception is on March 27 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m at the Crown Center Gallery, 1001 West Loyola Ave. The show will run until April 17.
