Stroger Plans County Hiring Freeze

By Karl Klockars in News on Mar 18, 2009 5:40PM

strogerfromhisblog031809.jpg If you've ever wanted to be a Payroll Supervisor or a Machinist Foreman for Cook County, hopefully all your papers are already in order. According to Todd Stroger, the sweet tit of county jobs is going to dry up for all hopeful sucklers in the very near future.

Per Mark Konkol at Da BrightOne, Toddlin' Todd will be issuing an executive order to freeze hiring for all county jobs next month:

If commissioners get their way, Stroger would ban hiring in all branches of county government except for positions subject to a court order, funded by grants or part of the county health and hospital system. And any "emergency hires" would have to be approved by the County Board, according to the resolution.

If you're interested in squeaking in before the freeze, check out the open jobs at the Cook County Employment Page. Not listed, unfortunately:

  • Machine cog
  • Patronage hack
  • Wall holder-upper
  • Envelope passer
  • "Ghost"

It's so obvious that we can't bring ourselves to do it, so insert your own "Todd Stroger/relatives/hiring" joke yourself here: ____________
