Ford Temporarily Shutters Torrence Ave. Plant

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Mar 30, 2009 6:40PM

The Torrence Avenue Ford Assembly Plant, located at 126th Street and Torrence Avenue on the city's Far South Side, is being temporarily closed for three weeks. With the number of cars sold down, production costs are exceeding sales. Another local Ford plant, a stamping plant in Chicago Heights, is shut down this week because all of the plants it supplies are already shuttered. Almost 800 jobs were lost at the Torrence Ave. plant last year when a shift was eliminated. [CBS 2]
