Raptors Outlast Bulls
The Chicago Bulls couldn’t pull off the comeback victory against Toronto on Sunday, falling 134-129 in OT. The Bulls, who were down 13 with just over five minutes to play, used 15 combined points from Derrick Rose and Ben Gordon to claw back into contention. Gordon’s biggest contribution was a last-second floater from just inside the arc that tied the game at 119 and forced the bonus period. In overtime, Chicago found themselves up one with under 30 seconds on the clock, but Chris Bosh’s three-point play and subsequent steal tipped the scales in Toronto’s favor. Gordon finished with 37 for the Bulls, and Rose tallied 23 points and nine assists. The loss drops Chicago back into eighth, one game behind Detroit.

Canucks Blank Blackhawks
It was all Vancouver on Sunday evening, as the Blackhawks were beaten by the Canucks 4-0. Daniel Sedin scored twice for Vancouver, once to establish the lead in the first period and then again in the third to make it 3-0. Chicago had three more shots on goal then their opponent, but didn’t seem to generate enough quality scoring opportunities. The victory pulls the streaking Canucks even with the ‘Hawks in the points column, as the two teams battle for home ice in the opening round of the playoffs.

College Basketball
The Illinois State women’s team earned a berth in the WNIT semifinals with a 66-55 win over the Indiana Hoosiers. Down three at the break, Illinois State scored an overwhelming 40 points in the second half to secure the victory. Nicolle Lewis led the Redbirds with 13 points and 13 boards, as Illinois State dominated the defensive glass and shot 10 percentage points better than the Hoosiers. The Redbirds will play the winner of Kansas vs. New Mexico on Wednesday, their opponent to be determined tonight.
