Chicagoist Podcast 4/6 - It's Baseball Season!

barrettpunchespierzynski040609.jpg Despite prior beliefs that baseball season would bring with it rainbows and clear skies and flocks of birds and 60+ temps and spring cleavage and all the majesty and glory that goes along with baseball, here we sit in dismal Chicago greyness and chill. No matter! The Chicagoist Podcast Series has the joy of springtime in its heart, and you can hear it in our voices as we sing zip-a-dee freaking doo-dah into today's (and tomorrow's) games.

First off, our very own Benjy Lipsman and I will collectively geek out about this year's White Sox season. Between Benjy's season preview and our conversation, a finer 9 minutes of White Sox related baseball conversation has yet to be seen on the podcast. (Insert general disdain of game cancelling here. A little snow never killed anyone.)

Second, we check in with Al Yellon, creator of BleedCubbieBlue.com who spoke with us live from Arizona where he was checking out the final couple weeks of spring training. Where does he see the Cubs this year? How does he feel about what he's seen? And how does he expect sites like his will affect sports journalism in the future?

And finally, because while Chicagoist is admittedly a South-Side-slanted machine, our very own Editor In Chief and resident Cubs fan Marcus Gilmer phones in his perspective on baseball and this year's Cubs prospects. Just don't ask where he phoned it in from - it's busy at the Chicagoist offices and when one can only spare 5 minutes here and there...well, you get the idea.

Don't forget, you can access the entire series of podcasts for free through Itunes, or plug our RSS feed into your reader of choice at your convenience and leisure. Download early and often, let us know what you think, tell your friends, and thanks for listening! And go (sports team of your choice)!
