White Sox White Out

The White Sox were supposed to crack open their 2009 season Monday afternoon at U.S. Cellular field, but due to the forecast cold, snow and high winds, the team announced on Sunday that their Opening Day will be pushed back to Tuesday. Not that the weather's going to be all that much better on Tuesday -- sub-40 temps and flurries are called for.
So Ozzie Guillen's message to his players before the announced delay will hold true. The Sox skipper told his team on Sunday, "[I]f they want to play in nice weather, you better move to Miami or California. When you sign a contract in Chicago, you're always going to have tough weather at the beginning of the season. We have to take advantage of that." If Chicago's weather works to the Bears' advantage, why not for the Sox, too?
While hearty Sox fans will bundle up and brave the elements at the Cell on Tuesday, one famous fan won't be in attendance. While the team invited President Barack Obama to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, he's too busy visiting with world leaders in Europe to stop in and visit his White Sox.
