Is the Toddler feeling the heat from the recent (albeit symbolic) suburban vote to leave Cook County? Is he afraid that he's going to get his ass handed to him in the Democratic primary for jacking up county taxes and not delivering competent county services? That may be the impetus for his proposal to roll back county taxes by a whopping quarter of a percent.

Citing an increase in federal funding from the economic recovery act and additional state health care funding, Stroger announced in a statement that he plans to propose a tax cut to the county board on Wednesday, lowering the county's sales tax rate from 1.75 percent to 1.5 percent. The county raised the sales tax by one percentage point last year at Stroger's urging, claiming that the money would go for vital county services.
