Industrial Grind

Throbbing Gristle, whom if ever the phrase proto-Industrial were to be applied musically they would easily hold the title, are making an extremely rare Chicago appearance near the end of this month. Led by Genesis P-Orridge (whose work in Psychic TV we lurve) these Brits crafted song structures that brought to mind urban landscapes torn apart by jackhammers and power drills. Their first Chicago appearance since 1981 is sure to be jarring, disturbing, captivating, mesmerizing and terrifying.
The group will perform four shows at Logan Square Auditorium on April 24 and 25. Each evening's early show will feature the band providing the live soundtrack to the film In the Shadow of the Sun, while that later show will be a more conventional set of material from the group's decades-long history. Though we're hard pressed to envision just what Throbbing Gristle would consider traditional.
As an added bonus all shows will feature a "signing event" with the band afterward where attendees may bring a single item for them to autograph.
Saturday's show is already sold out so if you want to see these legends sonically demolish Logan Square we suggest getting tickets to Sunday's performance now.
