Spring's in the air... and in the morgue

Give people a couple days of good weather and they get spring fever...

  • The 33rd Chicago Public Schools student to be shot to death this school year died Friday morning. Juan Cazares, 14, a student at the Richard Milburn Alternative High School was shot after a Back of the Yards basketball game in Cornell Square Park.

    • The Trib is reporting one dead and eight injured in an early morning shooting at the Elbow Grease car wash near 71st St. and Vincennes Ave., by Hamilton Park in Englewood.


    • Bond was denied for the Hoffman Estates man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend's father, younger sister and grandmother to death with a butcher knife. He also critically injured her mother in the attack at their home.


    • The father of a 22-year-old man found stabbed to death in the Northbrook home they shared was charged with murder. Bond was set at $5 million.


    • Meanwhile, a man robbed a bank in Berwyn at knife point. He is still at large.
