The good news: you’re halfway to the weekend! The bad news: you’re only halfway to the weekend. If you’re in need of some mid-week stress relief, head over to the Gorilla Tango Theatre, where The Trenchberg Incident is opening its first mainstage show. We’re willing to bet you haven’t heard of these guys - but we’re also willing to bet you’ll like them.

The Trenchberg Incident uses cardboard cutouts, sketch comedy and live percussion to showcase the small (fake) Minnesota town of Trenchberg, where humans and awesome 2D cartoons live together. In tonight’s episode, the fifth Incident since the group’s inception, the citizens “have just launched the first satellite into space, a mysterious bookmobile teaches us how to love again, and curiously mangled monkeys keep falling from the sky.” We asked the creators to describe the show in haiku form, and they graciously obliged:

Sharpies and cardboard
Merchants, mayors, and monkeys
Will entertain you.

Not sure if this sounds like your kind of entertainment? Check out this short video for a taste. Even tastier: The whole audience is invited to an ice cream social following the 50-minute performance. Cartoons AND sprinkles? Sign us up.
