Quick Bites: Last-Minute Mother's Day Brunch and Dinner Round-Up Edition

We've been kind of remiss with both "Quick Bites" and the "Friday Buffet" installments recently. We're hoping to rectify one of those today. Instead of the standard "QB" format, today we're listing some last-minute ideas to prevent Mom from reminding you that she brought you into this world and can also take you out of it.

• sola (3868 N. Lincoln, 773-327-3868) is giving away free gift bags from beauty company C.O. Bigelow to the first 100 mothers to dine there on Mother's Day.
• C-House at the Affinia Hotel Chicago (166 E. Superior, 312-523-0923) will be hosting a Brazilian Mother's Day a la carte brunch from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

• Brasserie JO (59 W. Hubbard, 312-595-0800) has a traditional French brunch selection from 11 AM - 2:30 PM. In addition to a special Kid’s Brunch Menu, Brasserie JO will also provide complimentary kids entertainment and activities in the Salon including games, crafts, DVDs and more.


• Carnivale (702 W. Fulton, 312-850-5005) is open for Mother's Day brunch from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Some of Mark Mendez's brunch specials for the day include Empanada Gallega (asparagus, parmesan cheese, roasted peppers), Huevos otra vez (Eggs scrambled with Mexican chorizo, sour cream, and goat cheese, pico de gallo), and Torrijas (French toast, vanilla butter, local honey, fresh fruit). Additionally, moms will receive a $15 Gift Certificate valid for their next visit.


• BIN 36 hosts its annual Mother's Day brunch from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost is $38 per person. Additionally, bloody mary and mimosa flights are offered for $12, milk and juice flights for the kids are $4. (339 N. Dearborn, 312-755-9463).


• The Publican (837 W. Fulton Mkt., 312-733-9555) dives into Mother's Day with a whole roasted pig dinner from 5-10 p.m.


• The Bristol (2152 N. Damen, 773-862-5555) is offering a two-course Mother's Day brunch for $21. View the menu here. (PDF file)

• May Street Market's Mother's Day brunch includes items such as White Asparagus soup- Wild ramp flan, crispy parmesan, Slow Roasted Beef Tenderloin- Three peppercorn herb crust, potato leek roulade, herb salad bouquet, Cheddar cheese risotto- with barbecue chicken, and Vanilla Cupcake with sprinkles. • Haven't been to Chalkboard (4343 N. Lincoln, 773-477-7144) in a while, but their Mother's Day Brunch from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. sounds tempting. Or surprise her with Chalkboard's traditional High Tea at 4 p.m.
