After last night's Sounds and Hey Champ show -- photos to come on Monday -- we are in the mood to keep dancing on into the weekend. Luckily for us is Life During Wartime night at Darkroom with some of our favorite local DJs Bald Eagle and Mother Hubbard spinning the boogie.

Spicing up the mix, and elevating the scene from "just another dance party" status, is a live set from Montreal's Winter Gloves. The group builds dance tracks with a live mixture of Wurlitzer, drums, synths, guitar, and glockenspiel(!). their latest album, About A Girl, is steeped in rough neo-'80s new wave mixed with art punk grit. Att the same time most of the tunes have an aching prettiness just behind the infectious rhthms that keeps things grounded. It's a satisfying concoction.

They're also smart enough to keep all their tunes hovering right around the three minute mark so you never have a chance to get bored or 'em, as if one could get bored with their delectable little melodies. We're just sayin', they should be able to hold the attention of even our most ADHD riffled club kids.

Darkroom, 2210 W Chicago, 9 p.m., free before 11 p.m. (and Winter Gloves go on at about 10:30 p.m.), 21+
