Cubs Lose, Ramirez Injured
It was a tumultuous night for the Cubs, as they lost a tough one to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2. Randy Wells pitched five scoreless innings in his first major-league start, and the Cubs built a 2-0 lead on a Milton Bradley homer and a sacrifice fly. That lead would permanently change hands in the eighth, however, when Ryan Braun sent a fastball from Aaron Heilman into the cheap seats to put Milwaukee up 3-2. Overshadowing the loss, Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez dislocated his shoulder while diving for a ball in the third inning. Ramirez, who suffered a similar shoulder ailment in 2000, will undergo an MRI today to determine the extent of his injury. Chicago also traded away Joey Gathwright in exchange for Baltimore’s Ryan Freel on Friday, who should help fill-in at third if Ramirez is to miss significant time.

Rangers Drop Sox
The Texas Rangers handily beat the White Sox 6-0 on Friday night, as Rangers starter Matt Harrison threw a complete game four-hitter and Jose Contreras continued to struggle. Contreras lasted only 3.2 innings and was charged with five runs (three earned) and six hits, including two wild pitches and a hit batsman. Meanwhile for Texas, Harrison cruised, issuing one base on balls and allowing only two Sox to reach scoring position. The loss marked Chicago’s second consecutive to Harrison, their third straight to Texas, and their fifth in the last six games. The poor performance will also cost the 0-and-5 Contreras his next start, as manager Ozzie Guillen looks to get his squad and the struggling pitcher back on track. The Sox are hoping to turn it around behind John Danks this evening at the Cell.
