2009_05_11_lphs.jpg The Sun-Times is reporting that Lockport Township High School's Central Campus has been on lockdown since an incident this morning. Authorities say a "chemical improvised device with possible toxic substances" is the reason for the lockdown and that some injuries were reported from the incident.

The statement said that the plastic bottle was releasing black smoke and possibly chemicals as students were starting the school day.

Eight to ten ambulances were sent to the scene as part of a box alarm response, according to another Lockport firefighter.

Nine students and a staff member were being treated for possible exposure to their eyes and skin, the statement said.

Meanwhile, CBS 2 is reporting the incident was a prank.

The school's website continues to post information as it becomes available.
