Those of us who were born under the latter years of the umbrella of Gen X were raised on a healthy diet of of MTV. As we've aged our musical tastes have changed and (we hope) become more sophisticated, but we still hold a soft spot in our hearts for some of the pop-centric acts MTV skyrocketed to stardom.

Remember the era of Columbia House? There was nothing more tempting to the tween ear than ten CDs for a penny. After months of pleading with our parents, we finally gained an all-access pass to this exclusive club and our first selection was Green Day's Dookie. No one knew at the time that the pop-punk trio would experience the career longevity of eight album releases and over two decades of musicmaking. Green Day's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, releases today on Reprise and tickets go on sale tomorrow for the tour of the same name which stops in Chicago at United Center on July 13.
Green Day, Monday, July 13, United Center, $25-$49.50, Tickets on sale Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster

P!NK may have gone blonde and added an exclamation point to her name, but she'll always be the ballsy, electric-haired chick who injected a healthy dose of attitude into the plastic landscape of pop with her 2000 debut Can't Take Me Home. P!NK has kicked off her Funhouse tour in support of her most recent release and partnered with The Ting Tings who will open in select cities. We hope to see them alongside P!NK at her September 26 show at Allstate Arena.
P!NK, Saturday, September 26, Allstate Arena, $39.50-$59.50, Tickets on sale Saturday, May 16 at 12 p.m. via Ticketmaster

We professed our love for veteran pop songstress Kylie Minogue last week and were not at all surprised to find out that many of you readers share our unbridled love for the Aussie lass. Expect a full-on multimedia extravaganza and a packed house at the Congress Theatre on October 7. Unlike Oakland and NYC, we only get one evening with Kylie so hop to it, tickets will disappear quick for this rare Chicago appearance.
Kylie Minogue, Wednesday, October 7, Congress Theater, $75, Tickets on sale Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster
