Toddler's Taxes Late Because of You and Newspapers

By Marcus Gilmer in News on May 16, 2009 4:40PM

No. Seriously. Cook County Board President Todd Stroger blamed his late tax issue (sorta) on the residents of Cook County, and the press, specifically the newspapers. Don't believe us? It seems the lien the IRS put on his house was because Todd was late filing an amended tax return and the reason he was late? Well, here's what he told WBBM's Craig Dellimore about the over $11,000 he owes in taxes.

"I have a lot of things going on. So sometimes a few of the personal issues might slip through the cracks while I'm fighting for the residents of the county and fighting the newspapers."

You've got to be kidding, Todd. Hundreds of thousands of people in this county, the people who have been giving you guff - you know, the people you're supposed to serve - have a lot more stuff on their plate and still manage to pay their taxes. We appreciate the gesture but we haven't seen results that warrant putting that onus on us.

Meanwhile, the County Commission meets on Tuesday to see if they have the votes to override the Toddler's veto of their sales tax repeal.
