GOP Sniffing After Madigans?

2009_6_04_madigan.jpg Something's up over at City Hall where, according to Crain's Greg Hinz, the GOP's national party has filed a request for communications with Attorney General Lisa Madigan and her father, State Speaker of the House Mike Madigan (pictured right).

The party's National Republican Senatorial Committee last month sent identical Freedom of Information requests to 27 city departments, including law, the inspector general's office, the O'Hare Modernization Program and the police review board.

The letters, signed by Sean Cairncross, the committee's chief counsel, ask for copies of any documents, written or electronic, of "correspondence to or from" either one of the Madigans.

Hinz suggests the move is most likely "political theater" and given the GOP spokeswoman's response, we find it hard to think it's anything else: "While we realize that the Madigan cabal would like to make all state decisions in a smoke-filled room, that hasn't worked out very well for voters."
