Residents in Libertyville have gotten their way and a wind turbine has been shut down after they complained about the noise. A group of nine residents obtained a restraining order forcing Aldridge Electric, the company that owns the turbine, to temporarily shut it down; it was installed in April.

The residents complained in their motion that the more-than-100-foot-tall turbine, which was installed in April, made a lot of noise, and it caused reflective sun glare and shadows in their yards. The noise was loud enough that neighbors' "couldn't enjoy their backyards," Porter said.

Though the restraining order expires today, Aldridge has agreed to keep the turbine off until its attorneys work out a deal with the residents. That could include moving the location of the turbine.

According to Aldridge, the turbine produces enough energy to power two full-sized homes. [CBS 2]
