Golf Course Pilot Makes Another Landing

2009_06_05_plane.jpg Remember Lake Villa's Robert Kadera? He's the dad who landed his single engine plane on a Lincolnshire golf course in March 2008 so his son wouldn't be late for a tennis lesson. He's back in the news for another unorthodox landing, but this time the situation was a bit more dire. Yesterday, he landed his plane in a farmer's field near Antioch but it was at least an emergency landing. From Fox 32:

Antioch police dispatchers received a 911 call Thursday morning that a small single-engine plane was having mechanical problems and was going down near North Avenue and North Hawthorne Lane.

The emergency landing in a field resulted in no injuries to the pilot or a young man who was riding with him.

Lee Shannon, Antioch's emergency management coordinator, said he was worried when he first heard of the incident.

"I was worried because it is a residential area," he said. "I was very relieved when I saw the plane on the ground."

"The pilot did everything that he could do [to land safely]," he added.

The FAA said Kadera still has his pilot's certificate but that it's under review due to the March 2008 incident. Last month, Kadera pleaded guilty in that case to charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 60 hours of community service and a $500 fine.
