Sox Top Tribe
The White Sox snapped a four-game slump behind Gavin Floyd on Saturday, beating the Cleveland Indians 4-2. Floyd, who has now turned in four consecutive quality starts, went 6.2 innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk. The unearned run came in the second and tied the game at one, as Jhonny Peralta reached on an error by Alexei Ramirez and Travis Hafner drove him home with an RBI double. Chicago answered in the fourth when Josh Fields put one over the wall in center field and then took a 3-1 lead on a passed ball by Indians' catcher Victor Martinez in the sixth. Cleveland got one back in the seventh when reliever Octavio Dotel allowed an inherited runner to come across, but the Sox pushed the lead back to two in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Scott Podsednik. Podsednik and Fields both finished the day 2-for-4 with a run batted in, and Posednik added two stolen bases to his season total. The Sox will try to resume their series-winning ways when they play the finale against Cleveland this afternoon.

Cubs Fall to Cincy
The Cubs climbed out of an early hole against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday but couldn't get ahead as they lost 4-3 in 11 innings. Chicago got off to a rough start after a fielding error by Mike Fontenot put the leadoff batter on base and starter Ryan Dempster allowed an RBI double and a subsequent two-run homer by Ramon Hernandez. Dempster danced around three hits in the second before settling down, conceding only one base knock over the next four frames. Bobby Scales and Geovany Soto each hit a solo shot to cut the Cubs' deficit to one, and Jake Fox provided a sacrifice fly in the eighth to tie the game and force extra innings. Sean Marshall walked Jay Bruce to leadoff the eleventh, who made his way to third on a wild pitch and sacrifice bunt. Adam Rosales then hit a grounder to third baseman Fontenot, but Fontenot, with the runner in his way, threw too high to Soto as Bruce touched the plate for the winning run. The Cubs will look to bookend the series with a win today at 12:10.
