Fish Check In to Hotel on Chicago River

A hotel for Chicago's aquatic citizens has recently opened for its fifth season.
According to the Chi-Town Daily News, the Fish Hotel is "an effort to rebuild aquatic wildlife in an urban river." On the surface, the hotel, which can be found between Dearborn and State streets, looks like a garden. But underneath the plants are islands made of coconut fiber that provide fish and other organisms like dragonflies and crayfish with food.
Finding food along the concrete sides of the Chicago River is hard making the Fish Hotel a necessary addition to the river ecosystem, said Margaret Frisbie in the report. Frisbie is the executive director of Friends of the Chicago River.
The hotel has seen its fair share of guests: dozens of fish have visited the hotel since it has opened.
