Chicago's snowballing new music scene won't let summer - the usual downtime for musicians - slow it down. Tonight is the premiere of Dusk Variations, a new series of four free contemporary music concerts at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.

Tonight's concert, called ChicagoCentric, features a few of Chicago's best new music groups playing an eclectic program. We'll keep this short and sweet so you can make sure you can be downtown and armed with a bottle of wine by 6:30 p.m.
- Fulcrum Point performs three pieces: Frank Zappa's "Dupree's Paradise," Dan Becker's "Droned," and Stefan Freund's "Metal."
- Third Coast Percussion plays John Cage's "Third Construction."
- New Millennium Orchestra of Chicago and CSO (and ICE and CCM) cellist Katinka Kleijn perform Dmitri Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1, as remixed by The Abominable Twitch (Max Glascott), The Flashbulb (Benn Jordan), and EVAC (Jeremy Goldstein).
- Accessible Contemporary Music's Palomar Quartet plays John Elmquist's "Petra" and a string quartet by Yuri Falik.
