2009_06_southsidetrilogy.jpg What is a literary picture show, you might ask? No, it does not feature Tim Curry in go-go boots nor must you do the Time Warp, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less fun.

South Side writer and former Gaper’s Block contributor John Hospodka (Greetings from Hardscrabble, Chicago) and his Bohemia Pupil Press will launch a collection of fictional works integrating sound and images that ultimately gives the illusion of continuous movement. Proposing one solution to the potential death of print, readers are invited to experience the online content of South Side Trilogy but must then purchase a PDF of the text to read offline.

The project unites a hodgepodge of Chicago artists including Red Orchid Theatre ensemble member Mierka Girten, actor Nicholas Cimino, and artist and renowned dive bar, Bernice’s Tavern, owner Steven Badauskas. The soundtrack is supplied by Bridgeport-based band, The Additives.

Pulitzer Prize-winner Tracy Letts (“August: Osage County”) has called Hospodka’s work “unapologetic." Adding, "he bangs out both the unsavory and the sweet with the fervor of a county preacher.” As a 20-year resident of Chicago, South Side Trilogy is steeped in the city’s literary landscape throughout its many formats.

South Side Trilogy will be released on July 23rd at http://www.bohemianpupil.com/.
