City Provisions Goes Shrooming

By Chuck Sudo in Food on Jul 6, 2009 6:20PM

2009_07_city_provisions.jpg We snuck a tiny blurb into last week's "BotW" post about City Provisions's Saturday farm dinner (we're including the entire schedule here, in PDF format).

These farm dinners are supposed to be can't-miss events, a great way to immerse into the local/slow food dynamic. City Provisions owner Cleetus Friedman hauls attendees to the farm site in a biodiesel bus (read about City Provisions's commitment to a reducing their carbon footprint here) with plenty of libations from a partner brewery. For Saturday's dinner, Gabriel Magliaro of Half Acre Beer Company will be joining the trip, with loads of Daisy Cutter, Over Ale and their flagship lager. Friedman will also have cheeses on hand from Roth Käse in Monroe, WI.

Saturday's dinner will be held at River Valley Ranch Mushroom Farm in Burlington, WI, using pottery designed specifically for the dinner by local artist Melissa Monroe. Monroe also collaborates frequently with Efrain Cuevas for his Clandestino supper club events, so we're definitely familiar with her work.

These trips leave City Provisions's Ravenswood headquarters around noon, with an ETR of 11 p.m. RSVP to the $125 dinner by calling 773-293-2489, and say hi to us if you're attending Saturday. As of 12:30 p.m., Friedman had 5 open spots available.
