West Nile Flies Into Town

The first case of West Nile Virus has been reported in Kendall County. A batch of mosquitoes collected on July 13 have tested positive for the virus.

"As we move through these summer months, it is important to remember to take precautions, such as wearing insect repellent and getting rid of standing water around your house, to avoid the risk of becoming infected with West Nile Virus," according to Steve Curatti, the county's director of environmental health.
According to health officials, typically only two in 10 people bitten by an infected mosquito experience any illness. More information on the illness is available on the State’s public health Web site. [WBBM]
