Julie Hamos In For The 10th

By Kevin Robinson in News on Jul 28, 2009 5:00PM

State Rep. Julie Hamos will announce today that she is running for congress in Illinois's 10th District. She'll be running for Mark Kirk's open seat, who is challenging Alexi Giannoulias for U.S. Senate. Democrat Dan Seals, who lost to Kirk twice, has been the subject of speculation, but hasn't made his intentions public yet.

Hamos, a five-term Democrat in the General Assembly, is hoping for a strong show of support from Democrats in the district, as Buffalo Grove Mayor Elliot Hartstein, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, state Rep. Elaine Nekritz of Northbrook and state Sens. Jeff Schoenberg, of Evanston, and Susan Garrett, of Lake Forest are scheduled to attend her announcement.
