Tweeting Bears

2009_08_04_bears.jpg Since the last football season ended, Twitter has become the next hot thing on the internet. NBA players made news during their season for tweeting during games, and Shaquille O'Neal is perhaps the most engaging athlete on Twitter. Now that the NFL teams have hit camps, who tweets in the NFL is now news. The Sun-Times' Mike Mulligan fills us in on which Bears are on Twitter, including Tommie Harris, Greg Olsen, Matt Forte and Devin Hester.

While the access into their daily lives is cool in theory, some of these guys can be hard to read, what with their ALL CAPS, and excessive punctuation!!! On the other hand, there are classics like Olsen's from last night, "Waking up for drug test at 7am..never a good time. callin it a day.." Because who doesn't want to know exactly when one of their favorite players is peeing in a cup? While the NFL quickly acted to ban mobile devices -- and hence Twitter -- from the sidelines after OchoCinco promised to do just that, so far the image-obsessed league seems to be allowing us some unfiltered access to the players on Twitter. But it's only a matter of time before someone screws it all up in hilarious fashion.
