Had to double-check the name of that wine to make sure there were some vowels.

Erin Drain, manager of LUSH Wine & Spirits University Village location (1257 S. Halsted, 312-738-1900), poured us a sample of this Austrian blended white cuvée made from chardonnay, zierfandler and rotgipfler grapes that made us remember why we were drawn to wine years ago. This wine is very forward with bright summer fruit notes — think peaches and apples, folks — and a crisp acidity what would make for a nice porch sipper with the temperatures finally beginning to resemble August in Chicago this weekend.

The best part of this wine is the price: Drain said that it's retailing for only $14. The only other Schellman cuvée white we could fins locally was the 2006 version at Randolph Wine Cellars. Their website lists it as out of stock.
