Starting November 7, if you get a new phone number in the Chicago area, you could wind up with a completely new area code as well. It seems we finally ran out of 773 area code numbers as of late July, so the new overlay will go into effect this fall. If you already have a 773 or 312 area code, don't worry, it won't be changing.
