Holovaty's EveryBlock acquired by MSNBC

This just in: Chicago's own micro-local news site Every Block has been purchased by MSNBC. While the group's press release doesn't say how much founder Adrian Holovaty and his team will be paid, it does say that the site's hub will remain in Chicago.
What this means is that the group - which has struggled to find funding for its innovative data mining since its Knight Foundation grant ended on June 30 - will have a solid backing for its future endeavors. But we're wondering if an international media conglomerate is really the best route for an organization whose strong suit has been its hyper-locality.
Regardless, we (and several aldermen) will still be using it to look up everything from foreclosure rates to photos of street bike polo.
