Chicagoist's "Beer of the Week:" The Lost Abbey's Inferno Ale

Decided to cook with beer Sunday and whipped up some amazing buckwheat pancakes using a cup of Lost Abbey Inferno ale. Damned if they weren't some of the fluffiest we've had in a long time. the beer was good, too.
This is another one of Tomme Arhur's creations, which dovetails nicely with the Belgian itch we've been scratching for some time now. Some of Lost Abbey's beers are head scratchers, others just pay homage to classic brewing styles. Inferno is a strong pale ale with a lot of floral on the nose, a thick foamy head that leaves behind some thick lacing on the glass, and flavors on the tongue that are perfectly in season for this time of year. We're talking apples, pears, some nice yeast on the palate. In fact, Inferno worked not only as a cooking ingredient, but as a complement to some spicy chorizo and potato hash we threw together.
We found our bottle of Inferno on a quick stop in at LUSH University Village.
