On Volleyball Sponsorship: A Short Sketch

volleyball.jpg Brother, in the year 2020: Hey, remember when Dad took us to the 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open?

Sister: I thought he took us all to the 2008 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open.

Brother: No, because mom went to that big podiatry conference in Flint that weekend, and we were at camp. He took Uncle Jimmy instead. Remember?

And it wasn't the 2008 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open, but the AVP Crocs Slam McDonald's Chicago Open.

Sister: Oh yeah, now I remember! Boy, the 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open was amazing! So sad that Rachel Wacholder had to sit that one out with her shoulder injury, though. She worked so hard to get back in shape after that rough pregnancy and everything. A C-section! Ouch.

Brother: Not to mention the absence of Misty May-Treanor ...

Sister: Aw man, I loved "Mistymeanor May-Treanor"*! She totally rocked it with Kerri at the 2006 AVP Cuervo Gold Crown Boulder Open. But Holly McPeak was pretty awesome, too. A legend, I'd say.

Brother: She came out of retirement for that one.

Sister: Which one? The 2006 AVP Cuervo Gold Crown Boulder Open, or the 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open?

Brother: The 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open.

Sister: Did she play in the the 2010 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Miller Heating & Plumbing Stu's Auto Body Chicago Open as well?

Brother: No, but I remember that game — a freaking classic!

Sister: Word.

The 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open is underway through Sunday, Aug. 30 at Oak Street Beach. The women's finals take place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. And there's men's finals, too! On Saturday, also at 1:30 p.m. But we didn't get any press releases about the men's finals, so we didn't write any sketches about them.

Get your tickets at AVP's website or during the event at the on-site box office. (Chicken sold separately.)
