Bradley Claims Words Were "Twisted"

Yesterday, a day after accusing Wrigley Field fans as being racist, Milton Bradley went out and did...nothing to silence his non-racist critics, going 0-for-5 in the Cubs 5-4 loss to the worst team in baseball. For the 2009 season, Bradley's stats are .255 Avg/ 11 HR/ 35 RBIs in 106 games played. Sure, it's slightly better than the stat line of departed OF Felix Pie (hitting .261/5 HR/18 RBIs in 81 games played in Baltimore), but Pie's contract for 2009 is also $9.5 million less than Bradley's. ANYWAY. Bradley also addressed his comments from the day before, telling the Sun-Times:
''People that come in here for a couple hours a day and want to ask you controversial questions, knowing you're going to give them a legit answer, and twist everything around and make it a story -- that's to be expected,'' he said. What was twisted?
''Well, you know, it's not really a need to get into it because you can't win in this situation. I'm not trying to win. I just go out there and give an honest answer and don't know why people can't respect that or respect how you feel. It's there. You can't say that a person's feelings are wrong.''
Uh, okay. He also saved the best for last, saying, "Unless you get paid $30 million to play right field for the Chicago Cubs, then you can't speak on how I feel because you don't know.'' Well, no one reading this gets paid $30 million to do anything, but here's guessing we all know how many outs there are in an inning.
It's also worth noting that it seems the Cubs took Milton's words to heart as ESPN's Nick Friedell reports a fan was apparently ejected from yesterday's game for yelling, "Milton, you suck." Friedell talked to a fan after the incident about any racism in the comments, to which the fan replied, simply, "Race is not an issue. He sucks. Whether you're white, green, purple, it doesn't matter. I would go after people if they were using racial slurs. It's not about that. He sucks." Meanwhile, it seems the Trib's Phil Rogers has also had enough of Bradley's antics and is calling for the team to cut Bradley loose. Which isn't a bad idea - giving Fuld playing time isn't a bad one either - except for the $20 million tab that would leave the team with.
