The Leftovers In Your Fridge Are Holding An Art Opening Tonight

Even the Amalgamated Union of Lolcat-Artists, Local 12 — one of Chicago's most cutting-edge arts organizations — is throwing a group show (theme: "Kittehs H8 Scaree Glenn Beck"). Kasia Kay Art Projects in the West Loop holds Kim Curtis: Perception — oil paintings that evoke and mimic patterns found in nature. Through Oct. 10.
Opening reception: Friday, Sept. 11 from 6-9 p.m. 215 N. Aberdeen.

Also in the West Loop, Western Exhibitions features new paintings, drawing and collages by Paul Nudd, and a new painting and several "daily drawings" by Dan Attoe.
Opening reception Friday, Sept. 11 from 5-8 p.m. Gallery talk with Nudd on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. 119 N. Peoria St., 2nd Floor.

Stay inside the 119 N. Peoria building and go to threewalls, which offers The Fortieth Anniversary of the First Anniversary of May ’68 : a solo show by Philip von Zweck.
Opening reception Friday, Sept. 11 from 6-9 p.m. Von Zweck will discuss his work and the exhibition on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. 119 N. Peoria, #2D.

The David Weinberg Gallery in River North hosts Social Landscape: a group show featuring documentary photography by James Griffioen, Dylan Vitone, and Jay Wolke. Through Oct. 31.
Opening reception Friday, Sept. 11, from 5-8 p.m. 300 W. Superior, Suite 203.

Also in River North, the Aldo Castillo Gallery present a new series of paintings by Colombian master Luis Fernando Uribe. Through Oct. 10.

In Bucktown, 360SEE hosts Quilted Portraits & Stitched Scenes, quilted portraits by Luke Haynes; and with new works by Gillian Bates and Alexandra Walters. Through Nov. 1.

Ukrainian Village's 65GRAND presents new paintings by William Staples. Through Oct. 10.
Opening reception Friday, Sept. 11 from 7-10 p.m. 1378 W. Grand Ave. at Noble St.

The Chicago Art Department in Pilsen presents Pine, a group show with artists Bridgette Buckley, Stacy Peterson and Sighn. The show features wood sculptures, paintings, text-based work, illustrations, lighting and textiles. (Don't miss Sighn's ITSOKdia booth at this year's Renegade Craft Fair.)
