Try to resist a good dessert. You can't. Last weekend we had two very good ones at two separate locations a block apart.
Let's start with Saturday night. We were riding home from the Bloodshot Records Beer-B-Q at Hideout and had to stop at Skylark for a burger, tater tots and Wednesday's "Beer of the Week" winner. When did they start serving dessert? It's a rhetorical question. Anyhoo, we opted for creme brulee. Besides being slightly warm, the flavor and, more importantly, the browning wasn't bad. It was a welcome surprise.
Yesterday we went to Nightwood for brunch and saw two types of doughnuts on the menu. Did we opt for the chocolate? God, no! Here's an equation for you: fried dough + butterscotch glaze + bacon = Christ on a stick.
Our LDL levels are fine, thank you.
