More Trouble For Todd? County Financial Records Subpoenaed

First there was the low approval rating and then his toughest competition yet. Now, Todd Stroger will feel even more heat as a probe into county finances has grown. Citing a "current grand jury investigation," the Cook County state's attorney's office subpoenaed 2008 financial records from Stroger's office. According to the Sun-Times:
Prosecutors subpoenaed the county’s auditor, Deloitte and Touche, LLP, asking for “certain documents which are routinely in the possession of the auditors during the course of their customary preparation for the 2008 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report,” according to a memo authored by Cook County Commissioner John Daley.Daley, head of the Board’s Finance Committee, sent the memo to fellow commissioners today.
Reached later, Daley said he didn’t know what prosecutors were looking for, but he felt he had a duty as finance chair to share the development with the Board.
Deloitte and Touche, LLP had informed Stroger of the subpoena almost a month ago - the letter was dated August 21 - but the commissioners learned of it yesterday as a copy was attached to a memo sent from Com. Daley; Com. Daley told the Tribune, "I believe every [County Board] member should know." Investigators declined to comment on which records were subpoenaed or what the subject of the ongoing investigation is. A source told the Tribune, however, that this all started back in April with investigators looking into the infamous Tony Cole hiring (and raise) case. Anyone up for more ethics reform?
