Poster Culture Documentary

poster1LRG.jpg How much do you know about Chicago's vibrant poster art scene? Not much? Well, maybe it's time to change that. Get a primer on some top local poster artists and their other-city peers by checking out Died Young Stayed Pretty, a documentary film by Eileen Yaghoobian that plays tomorrow, September 30, at the Music Box Theater in Lakeview.

Born in Iran and brought up in Canada, Yaghoobian spent four years making her doc, which features a score by local musician Mark Greenberg (Coctails, Eleventh Dream Day) and has received rave reviews (including an "official selection" nod at this year's South by Southwest Film Festival). After the movie, stick around for a Q&A with Greenberg and local poster artists Steve Walters, Keith Herzik, Mat Daly, and the folks at Sonnenzimmer.

Today, September 30, Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport, 7:20 p.m, $15
