Christkindlmarket is Coming to Town!

christkindlmarket.jpg Every year, we look forward to the Christkindlmarket. This is because, despite all appearances to the contrary, pops is part German - hence the last name. The same last name that caused my blond haired college roommate's startled look when we met for the first time, clearly not expected the Korean looking girl in front of her. But,...we digress.

Here's what's awesome about Christkindlmarket and why you should go: Over 50 vendors from Germany congregate at Daley Plaza to sell hand crafted ornaments, toys, traditional German foods, sweets, and beverages. Sometimes, on our walk from the office to the Blue Line Washington Stop (which is right under the market), we'll decide to forgo making dinner at home and, instead, we'll get a brat, drink some hot apple cider and look at the cool toys and gifts available. It makes us almost like Christmas!

The market opens this year on November 25th and stays open until (and including) Christmas Eve. Opening hours are Sunday-Thursday 11am - 8pm and Friday & Saturday 11am - 9pm.

We'll be reminding you as it gets closer so you won't forget this great holiday treat.
