Affectionately coined NYC's loudest band, A Place To Bury Strangers mix shoegaze, noise pop and garage influences with heavy distortion and even heavier feedback. This year's Exploding Head solidifies the trio as relentless noisemakers on a mission of melody and mayhem. Stop for earplugs on the way and come prepared for aural assault at the Double Door.
A Place To Bury Strangers with Dead Confederate and All The Saints, Monday, October 26, at Double Door, 1572 N Milwaukee, 9 p.m., $12, 21+.
We had a chance to check out Neon Indian live last month in advance of their current tour and were impressed and charmed with the young band's performance. Already being touted as a critic's favorite, Neon Indian's debut, Psychic Chasms, reminds us of long summer days spent playing Nintendo and aimlessly riding bikes with friends. We'll be back for seconds, and a proper post-show review, as they take the stage at the newly opened Lincoln Hall.
Neon Indian with Smith Westerns, Prairie Cartel and Midnight Conspiracy, Tuesday, October 27, at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N Lincoln, 9 p.m., $12, 18+.
Experimental Icelandic outfit Múm have been creating unique, sleepily drifting lullabies for over a decade. Known for their wide range of backing instrumentation, Múm's music is simple on the surface and complex beneath the tide. Close your eyes and let your imagination roam.
Múm with Sin Fang Bous, Wednesday, October 28, at Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 N Kedzie, 8 p.m., $15/$18, All Ages.
Lupe Fiasco and The Very Best on the same night is a nightmare-worthy music dilemma. We're long-time fans of Mr. Fiasco, but were wowed by The Very Best's Pitchfork set that turned the side stage into a world rhythm backed outdoor dance party. Both shows promise a good time sure to get your feet shaking.
Lupe Fiasco, Thursday, October 29, at Congress Theater, 2135 N Milwaukee, 7 p.m., $30, All Ages.
The Very Best with Violetness and The New Collisions, Thursday, October 29, at Bottom Lounge, 1375 W Lake, 8 p.m., $15, 18+.
